Tapestry weft error
The tapestry weft error is often the first difficulty that must be resolved.
Reminder
A full pass of weft is a round trip made in a working area. This is called "weaving" because the first half pass is inserted into one warp opening while the second half pass is inserted into the other warp opening.
In tapestry weaving the work is done on two warp openings alternately.
A tapestry weft error...
...when the return half pass is inserted into the same warp opening as the first. This results in a layering of unwoven yarns which leaves the warp yarns visible.
When does this happen?
There are often three cases of this problem
1 - Two identical coloured areas must be combined into one for the purposes of the drawing (A)
2 - There is " bitter". This consists of introducing a colour into another colour (B)
3 - Several colours are introduced irregularly on the same line (C)
How to solve the problem?
1. Show the area of the tapestry weft error by lifting the warp thread (photo 1 and 2)
2. take the whole area of the tapestry weft error by pulling the warp threads as if to weave (photo 3) and isolate the first warp thread of this area (photo 4)
The letter X is placed on the warp thread that starts the tapestry weft error.
3. In front of the first warp thread causing the tapestry weft error (X), insert the weft thread (the one being weaved, brown in the photo) behind the work (photo 5) to the end of the tapestry weft error area (photo 6).
4. From the end of the tapestry weft error area, weave in the weft thread normally, so, in the opposite direction to the beginning of the weft (photo 7). Continue working until the end of the weft: you have made a fuul pass of weft without error. (photo 8)
It is essential to solve this problem. Explaining this with text and pictures has its limits...
